UTOPIA 22
Bird species never seen or heard before.
The first flute carved from the first fauna.
Let’s purify toxicity.
— Björk, Utopia
UTOPIA imagines a future in which design and innovation rebuild a balanced relationship with nature. The collection was born from a collective emotion: the months of spring 2020, when the world stopped and we believed everything would change. We spoke of dolphins in Venice, bears in the cities; we promised to reconnect with the planet and learn from our mistakes. Yet two years later, everything looked the same.
From this dissonance comes UTOPIA: a proposal for a different future, in which humanity redefines progress—not as excess, but as a tool to listen, repair and reconnect. A pragmatic, grounded form of hope.
This vision takes shape through the collaboration with Swedish artist Carina Sohl. Carina hand-picks flowers and presses them into leather, creating detailed relief embossments. The fragile bloom breaks, but its form remains preserved—an imprint of nature, a botanical fossil. For UTOPIA, these flowers become a Herbarium of the mind: traces of an inner landscape, imprinted on wearable leather pieces.
The collection also introduces the HERBARIUM print, which reinterprets 18th-century naturalist drawings, translating scientific observation into a contemporary visual language.
The material palette marks a new milestone in sustainability for the brand:
Econyl suede derived from recycled fishing nets; pleated polyester twill from plastic bottle caps; organic prints; sustainable denim; RWS-certified knitwear; vegetable-tanned, certified leather engraved through a plant-based process; and a range of up-cycled stock fabrics from previous collections.
Colors alternate between the neutral tones of traditional herbals—white, beige, sand—and fluorescent, future-oriented accents: lime, bluette, fuchsia.
Through UTOPIA, Caterina Moro envisions a future where nature and innovation are not opposing forces but partners. A place where transformation is possible.
